I Listen and I care
Jimmy Lodato was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, where he graduated from Jefferson High School and attended the University of Tampa. After a successful career as Vice President of a national company, Jimmy founded his own business as a statewide and international non-food broker. He sold his business and retired at the age of 39.
Jimmy has been heavily involved with the School District for several years. As Chairman of the Steering Committee and Co-chair of Save Our Students Hernando, he spearheaded the campaign to revive the half cent sales tax funding which will generate $120 million over ten years for school capital improvements. During this time, Jimmy visited Hernando county schools and met with teachers, parents, students and school employees who shared the needs of the District with him. This led him to run for School Board in 2018 and he currently serves as a School Board member.
In his efforts to develop a free-standing school dedicated to CTE and vocational training, Jimmy has become a vital part of an alliance that includes County Commissioners, PHSC, Senator Wilton Simpson and our Florida state government leaders, local business and medical community leaders, first responders and the Sheriff’s office to bring this school to fruition.
Jimmy has four grown children, two of which are teachers. He and his wife, Tammy, have been married over 40 years and moved to Hernando County in 1999 from the island of Tierra Verde in Pinellas County.
